explainer
Imagine two coins flipped at the same time, but magically linked. If one lands heads, the other *instantly* lands tails, no matter how far apart they are. Quantum entanglement is like that, but with tiny particles instead of coins. Their fates are intertwined, even across vast distances, in a way that's completely bizarre and still not fully understood.

What is an API?
The Restaurant Waiter Analogy
Think of a restaurant. You are the customer at the table, and the kitchen is the system that prepares the food. You can't just walk into the kitchen and make your own meal. Instead, you give your order to a waiter
The waiter is the API—they take your specific request to the kitchen and bring back the finished dish to you. The API acts as the messenger that lets two systems communicate without either needing to know exactly how the other one works.
Devil’s advocate
Every company should replace its customer service agents with AI chatbots
While this approach prioritizes short-term financial efficiency, it dangerously overlooks the long-term cost of lost customer loyalty. AI chatbots excel at simple, repetitive queries, but they consistently fail when faced with complex, nuanced, or emotionally charged issues.
This limitation can lead to intense customer frustration, damage brand reputation, and drive away high-value clients who expect and deserve human empathy and problem-solving skills. The cost of acquiring a new customer is far greater than retaining an existing one, making the erosion of the customer experience a hidden but significant financial risk.

Are there any real-life treasure maps?
Yes, there are several real-life treasure maps and legends of hidden treasures that remain unresolved, continuing to fascinate and inspire adventurers and historians alike. These tales, often a blend of historical fact, folklore, and cryptic clues, point to fortunes lost to time, waiting to be rediscovered.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is "The Gemini Toolbox"?
A Chrome extension that augments gemini.google.com with draggable windows for tools such as Map, Photos, Explain, Timeline, Key Figures, Fact Checker, Devil’s Advocate, and a quick Q&A panel (“Ge‑Mini”). Select text on the page and choose a tool.
Is it free?
Yes. During beta you can use a limited free trial via our proxy. Adding your own Google API keys gives you full quotas and direct calls from your browser.
Do I need my own API keys?
Optional. Without keys, the extension uses a fair‑use proxy for Gemini and Image Search. With keys, requests go directly from your browser to Google’s APIs.
Which keys are supported?
Gemini API key (from Google AI Studio) for AI features; Google Custom Search API key + a Programmable Search Engine CX ID for Photos. Those two are only needed for the Photos tool.
Where do I add keys?
Open the popup → API Settings, or visit the extension’s Options page. Click “Save Keys.”
What sites does it run on?
Only on https://gemini.google.com/*.
What data does the extension access?
It reads your text selection and nearby context on gemini.google.com to fulfill the tool you invoke. It does not run on other sites.
Does the extension collect personal information?
Keys and preferences are stored in Chrome Storage (sync or local) on your device. On first install a random userId is stored locally. If you use the free trial path, that ID and the selected text/context are sent to the proxy service solely to route your request to Google’s API. No other personal data is collected by the extension.
What permissions are requested and why?
Storage: save keys, preferences, and window positions. Host permissions: generativelanguage.googleapis.com and www.googleapis.com for direct API calls, and the toolbox’s backend URL for the optional proxy.
How do I use the tools?
Select text on a Gemini page. A small floating menu appears—pick a tool, or click “Apply All” to run all open tools on the selection. You can also open/close tools from the side toolbar.
How do I show/hide the toolbox?
Popup → Enable Toolbox toggle. Hiding preserves your open tool state
Is the extension available on Windows, Linux, or ChromeOS?
Not yet. The current beta is supported only on macOS (Chrome desktop). Support for Windows and Linux is planned for a future release.
